Freakin credit union....update we got the car!!!
SO and I are purchasing a car and financing it through a credit union affiliated with his employer. We wanted to do it this way because the payments will automatically come out of his paycheck plus we had a better chance of being approved. We got pre-approved for a loan of 9K a couple of weeks ago and they told us to go look. We did and found a perfect car under what we were approved for. So we had all the paperwork (kbb, NADA, carfax, etc) sent to the credit union last Friday. They said they would work it out on Monday. It's Wednesday and I called to see what the status was....they said they were swamped and hadn't a chance to even look at it yet! WTH happened to only taking 24-48 hours??? So in the meantime this "perfect car" could be sold. She said it will probably be after the holidays before they can look at it. So, what are we supposed to do? We NEED the car NOW. I am sooo frustrated!!!!
So we finally bugged the credit union enough and they finished the paperwork. We went up to the dealership and got the car this afternoon. Yea! This is my first real car purchase other than junkers. I am soooo in love with this car. :) It's a 2006 Saturn ION, only has 37K miles, and is in perfect condition. We got it way under market value too!
Here it is: (These are from autotrader)

Do you have any money you could put down as a deposit. It could be as small as $50.00 I know that is what I have done for my cars in between the looking and the loan approval.

Yes. We will try that and see if the seller would accept it. Would we be able to take the car then?

I agree try the deposit - they might hold it for you. Good luck, I hope you are able to get the car!

no, it might keep it from being sold while you wait for your financing to come through.
