I see alot of ''How many kids is to many'' so how many dogs is to many.where i live people here seems to think having 30 or 40 is okay.a lady here in south carolina just got busted for having 30 dogs and 20 cats.....seriously? i have two and thats all i need for right now.
I think the answer differs for each person. It depends on how many you can afford and physically take care of and leave them still living in good conditions and health. I would like to get another dog in the future. i have an 8 year old dog so I think I'll just wait until he passes and then get two puppies or something. I have a big yard but I don't think I could handle more than 2 or 3 dogs. lol
Honestly it depends on the size of your home, your budget and how much time you can put in with them.
20, 30 animals, no that is not pet ownership thats just illegal.
You can't possibly give 30 dogs all that they need , in time affection and care.
We have two GSD's and thats about our limit, but we are open to fostering rescues
it really depends on how much land a person has and how many are allowed by law. i had no idea but my mom was telling me that where i grew up it is illegal to own more then 4 dogs. but personally if i had enough land for them to run around i would say no more then 6. we have 2 now and might be getting a third.
We had 4 dogs growing up. They were outside dogs, and had a 2 story heated dog house that my Dad made. I personally can only handle 1 dog right now because I like my dogs to be inside dogs.
I think it depends on the person, and what kind of home/life they can provide for the dogs.
Example: Apartment with no yard: probably 1 dog, maybe 2 if they are small. Farm with acres of land : As long as they take care of them and have places for them to sleep I think it's up to them.
That being said, I think more than 10 in any situation is a lot.

I agree. Unless you have some type of organization or something where you have other people coming in to take care of and play with the animals 20-30 animals is WAY too many for anyone.
I'm planning on fostering dogs in the near future with a local resuce in my area though! i'm excited. lol

lol Im not a dog person. Though i do have compassion for animals. Im contemplating calling someone on my neighbor. She just kicked her dog out. Like literally kicked him out. Packed up all his stuff and put it on the porch with him than I heard her tell the neighbors she didnt want him anymore. So now we have a dog roaming free. Poor guy ;(

Other one is way to many.
For about 15 years, I picked up street dogs. I would find most of them new homes, but the ones that were physically or emotionally too screwed up, stayed with us. At one point we had 12 dogs. We lived on more than enough land and the dogs were surprisingly clean. Feeding time took only about 20 minutes and we never had a fight - as long as my chihuahua ate in the pantry. Eventually, all but one died, most of old age, one of cancer, one from a seizure disorder. Since they were all pretty close in age, we had one year where six died. When I finally moved to Central America, we had one left. She's asleep on the bed right now. When we got here, we adopted a French bulldog/Boston terrier mix and I bought an English bulldog for my husband for his birthday. Three is just right for us now, but I still volunteer with a pet adoption group. Like children, there are only too many when you cannot provide for them properly or pay enough attention to them.
