If your child is in cheerleading for the school or city, what costs are involved and what does that cover?

Our DD has been in this program in school for 5 weeks now and we were previously informed that there was no costs...tonight when I picked her up...an oah I'm sorry letter came home saying that there is a $40.00 cost due by Dec.11....

I think that stinks but my daughter is in 2nd grade and for her to cheer for football was over $140.00.  It will be less in the next years as this was a first time cheering thing but still a huge chunk of money.  This paid for her "rented" uniform and a camp which included camp wear but I had to then add white shoes.  What we got to keep as far as the uniform was bloomers and a hair bow.
