Spotless, organized clutter, or disaster area??
For those of you with younger children, do you clean (or make them help) their rooms everyday or do you just say forget it and pick it up only after you've stubbed your toe on the same toy multiple times??
I tried very hard to make sure my girls' room was clean every night before bed. This lasted about a week, then I decided "what is the point?" So now, I pretty much only clean their room if I'm expecting company. How bad is that??
DD loves to put her toys away. We clean up several times a day. I figure she's either in her sorting stage or she's showing signs of OCD.
:-)

With 3 kids I basically clean when we have people over or I can no longer safely walk through the house!

I clean and have my 2 year old help clean a couple times a day.
I know everyone's probably wondering why I don't just clean it once before bed and the answer is because it gets so bad that he can't walk in there and ends up falling on stuff and getting hurt. And it takes like 3 minutes to pick it all up. Right now my house, and his room are trashed cause I was babysitting his cousin. So I've got a lot of cleaning to do tonight, figured i'd wait and do it like 2 hours before bedtime so he didn't have much time to undo my hard work. lol
My son doesn't have his own room, but he makes a mess in the living room ... Sometimes I step on his hotwheels or army men and OMFG!!!! Aghhhh!!! LOL To have him pick up his toys, I sing the "Clean up" song and he LOVES it! The only time I pick up his toys is if I'm in a rush to clean or I'm having someone over... (my son is 2 BTW).. =)
Eh. Half organized clutter, half disaster area. They have a few toys in their room that they can play with in the morning when they first wake up so they don't have to leave their room. That's been a recent thing-since the baby gates became pointless and we couldn't really herd them in anywhere anymore- and it's worked out great. Those toys they have to pick up each night before bed. It's always a hassle, but they know they have to do it. They also have a playroom which is strictly for their toys and they are allowed to pretty much destroy that room all they want. They don't have to pick those toys up on a regular basis, usually only if they get in trouble or we need to vacuum in there.

Oh, I cannot tell you how much I hope my little girl is like this. Hopefully she is and will be a good influence on her brothers and her daddy!

My youngest is three, he shares a room with his 16 year old brother. I'm not sure who is messier but I'm thinking it is the 16 year old. My oldest and my daughter can both be rather messy when they choose. We get on them from time to time but not too much. As long as their clothes are clean, presentable and the rooms don't reek it isn't too much of an issue.
Our house is lived in and it shows. Dishes are clean, clothes are clean, no food left about. If somebody has an issue with the clutter they can be my maid (for free of course cause I'm not paying).
