what hubby got me for my bday :) *edit with info*
yesterday was my 23rd birthday. hubby told me i wasn't getting a present. no big deal, he got me a mini netbook about 5 months ago so i could start writing again.
well...he told me that for my birthday, he emailed a lawyer. we are going to be setting up a time to go start the process of him adopting aiden :) i couldn't have asked for a better birthday present :)
*back story*
aiden was born 11 weeks early. i went into labor at 27 weeks. spent two weeks in the hospital before i delivered him. his bio dad left us after he was 2 days old. moved to another state to be with his ex. i found out later that his ex can't have kids, and he was planning on taking MY son with him to raise with HER. i have not seen or spoke to him in over 2 years now. the last i heard from him was the day before christmas in 07 he emailed me and said "hope aiden has a good first christmas" uuummmm....it was his 2nd christmas. that was the last i heard from him. and i feel no need to contact him...until its time to sign off his rights.
hubby and i got together when aiden was 4 months old. and has been a father to him since day one. he really stepped up and took on a lot more than he needed to...and he is a great daddy. he is the only father aiden knows, and the only father he will ever know (will tell him about bio dad when hes old enough to know better, and when hes 18 he can decide if he wants to meet him, if he can find him)
so, its kind of a big deal that he is finally adopting adien, and making it official. and finally our family can be complete, and aiden will have the same last name as mommy and daddy, and his soon to be baby brother or sister

Sounds great !! Sorry I just don't know where Aidans bio dad is or any of the back story so it's hard to really understand but I am glad your happy and it sounds like it was a thoughtful gift !!
