How do babies react to teething?

I need to know because it is 11:59pm (may not be late to some people) but I was awoken by my son's screaming and just LITERALLY non-stop crying. I know he was in pain and I checked his foot because he's got a really bad rugburn (I mean, bad) and the bandaids have come off, so DF and I put neosporin on his toes and changed the bandaids. He wouldn't stop crying so I checked his top gums where his DR said his teeth will come in and OH LOOK! A TOOTH! So we put Orajel and he's still crying like CRAZY. We change his diaper and even gave him his sippy cup of formula. It seems as though he doesn't like teething rings because we tried them and he'd rather chew other things.

He's FINALLY sleeping, but I really need to know if this is how babies react to teething??? By the way, he'll be a year old on the 4th of December which is about a week away.

I need to get back to bed...

my son didn't react quite that badly...but he does wake up alot while teething. We found these amazing homeopathic dissolvable tablets that you put under there tongue at Walgreens. I love them and they worked great for us!

Oh and I forgot to add, if it's his first, usuallly that is the worst one. They  "adapt" to the pain, I guess that's the best way to put it...but it does get better!

My son did this at this age.  He seemed to be terrified though and his pedi said it was night terrors.

Oh, and the only teething ring he liked was the star one that vibrates.

My daughter is a year and a half and she is getting her molars now. The last few days have been horrendous !! Crying like you said non stop and no amount of orajel or tylenol works. Well it did eventually but I got worried till it finally kicked in:-) I am up late the last two nights and when she wakes up its very hard to get her back to sleep. I truly think it depends on the child and which tooth it is...Good Luck!
