**Very sick baby....How do I do this?? PLZ help.**
My 17month old has a fever of 102 again today(third day with a fever). He went to the DR on Tue. and he has a inner and outer ear infection in the same ear, and a sore throat. He is on Augmentin and ear drops. On Tue. the DR told me to keep him on Tylenol for the first 24hrs. He won't eat much but has been drinking Pedialyte so he doesn't get dehydrated from not eating or drinking anything else. He's been on Tylenol since Tue.
I called the DR today and left a message. That was 2hrs ago and I haven't gotten a call back. The Tylenol obviously isn't working to bring down his fever. I've stripped him, bathed him and the fever is still at 102. I want to try alternating Tylenol and Motrin, but I'm not sure how to do it(that is why I called the DR).
Can someone please tell me how to do this? Do I start the Motrin and Tylenol at the same time? Or do I start one and then the other when it's time for another dose?
Please help, my baby doesn't feel well at all.
I believe it is every two hours mama. switch from tylenol and motrin. i hope the baby gets better soon
:)
It's been a while. I think it goes every 4 hours. Say u gave the baby Tylenol at 11 then four hours from that you give the Motrin.
Start the motrin, then when it's time for the next dose, give tylenol. That's what I do for my son when he's got a fever that just won't break with tylenol.

If I remember correctly you alternate the two every 6 hours. I would start by giving Motrin as soon as you can - at least 6 hours after the last dose of Tylenol - then call the ER and ask them about alternating. ER's are open on holidays, and any good one will give you advice.
Also - a cool bath will do wonders to bring down a fever - it doesn't have to be cold, but room temp or a bit cooler. Also, carefully sucking on ice cubes or a popsicle - will provide some fluids and will help cool the throat and body temp slightly.
Good luck :)
