the ball is constipation, but the blood is something to call the doc about now. have you changed food's, formulas etc lately? these will be things the doc will ask when you call. they may tell you to just watch him and see if it continues they may ask you to bring him in asap.

He may be constipated. His little bootie hole is probably scratched from him pushing. Poor thing. Put some Vaseline on him so the next time he goes it won't be so rough on his bottom. Desitin will work too. Poor little guy. Also, you could give him some prune juice diluted with water. It will help to soften his stool.

call your pediatrician as soon as possible. blood in the stool is never a good sign!

So blessed to have two amazing men in my life: my husband Rob and my son Hayden Fletcher.

He was just constipated and the blood is because it caused a little tear in his anus as it came out.  This is completely normal to happen with constipation. It happens to everyone in their life.  You may want to think about any diet changes he has made or why he would be constipated and work on that.

Did you change formulas or switch from breastmilk to formula or start giving him cereal?

any change in his diet could have done it. stop the new food, go back to what he has been on. give him an ounce or two or juice or water (juice usually works faster) and see if his next stool is like that. if its not it likely was the cereal. than just hold off on grains for a few more months, that sometimes causes babies to get constipated.

ok, thank you so much...I just gave him 1 oz prune juice with 1 oz water. He is fine now, I hope this helps.

Oh yeah that could definately be the problem.  Stick with the single grains and if you want to add others in later do it in small amount at a time with the single grain until his body can handle it.

I gave one of my babies the mixed grain too soon and he bound up like he had eaten concrete.  Went back to the single grains and he was happy.
