Many many years ago DH was deployed and they happen to do a stop over in China and DH bought me a $1000 china set. Durning the trip home out of a 16 piece set only a tea cup broke. After a move to Hawaii and a move back to California nothing has ever broke till today. I was wiping the dishes off to set the table and I swear time stopped I had both hands on the tea plate and next thing I see it rolling on its side rolling off the eadge of the table and crashing to the floor in million pieces.

I am so hurt, so pissed and just so sad. DH most likely will never be able to go to china ever again and I dout with my illness that I'll be able to travel much. So there is no getting another plate to replace it or to get another set like it.

Uggg

Well Everyone Happy Thanksgiving

Those are just things ...things mean nothing to me ... so I can't understand your pain. You should put them up and never use them if they are so special to you... accidents happen.

I'm so sorry! I really do know what that feels like.

When DH went on a mission earlier this year, he got me a nice gift (I can't say what it is bc that would give away where they were and no one is supposed to know). Anyways, part of the gift (it was a 2 part gift) broke. We will never visit that place, so I will never be able to replace it.

My advice: they are just material things. There are much more important things to be thankful for. You can't change that it happened, so try to dust yourself off and go about your day (I know that's hard especially with something that important).

Awww I'm sorry :( I know important things like that can be. My mom and dad both have special china and cookwear handed down over the yrs and there have been things that have been broken too and I remember my mom being very upset. Is there any possible way you could try and fix it..at least to some extent?

That completely sucks!  I am so sorry that happened.  When stuff like that happens it takes the breath from your core, but don't let it ruin the meaning of today in being Thankful you have a meal to prepare.  Many people in this economy do not.  We are blessed we had a dish to break.  I am sorry though.

 www.replacements.com

This is where we are going through to finish my set of wedding china that got discontinued before we could finish getting it all.  My friend said they were very helpful with getting some broken pieces of her mother's wedding china replaced.  I think you can e-mail them asking for help with replacing a pattern and send them a picture.  I hope it helps, Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm sorry.  I know how it feels to lose something that means so much to you.

On another note, if contacting the company doesn't work out, keep your eye open at thrift stores and garage sales.  My mom has a set of china that has lost pieces over the years.  And I happened to find an entire set with all the items she was missing at a garage sale one time.  We had never seen this pattern before anywhere else.  But, that one time, it just fell into our laps.  And all for $15.
