My house is 55 degrees.

Ummm yeah.  The contractors we hired to rid the mold in our basement killed our furnace.

The pilot light won't ignite, and evidently, that's not a do-it-yourself job.

It took me leaving 6 angry messages on every contact number they have threatening to report them to the BBB to get even a call back with their "24/7 emergency service."

So anyway, I've got DD under about 12 blankets, and my fingers feel like they're going to freeze off.  $3400 well-spent, don't ya think?

Yikes!  Can you go to a hotel while they get it fixed?  I am so sorry that you are dealing with this.

Just a thought.  Is the gas line to the heater open/on?  On ours, when the little knob is going in the same direction, the line is open.

Does your heater have the button start?  If it's sparking but not lighting when you turn the dial from pilot to on there may be no gas getting to the heater.

That sucks!

I hate to say it but my MIL keeps her house at a constant 60..I HATE going there because I feel like I'm going to lose a finger or a toe from frostbite lol

Mind you this is the temperature during dead of winter...she is such a tight wad on her money so she doesn't raise it anymore! I understand money is tight now-a-days but really..freezing your ass off makes it all worth it?! Um I don't think so

Sorry you spent so much money and still got burned in the end..sucks!!

In my panicked frenzy...I did check the gas lines.  They're working, and you can hear the "fumes" when I turn the switch thing to pilot and when I push the reset button.

The guy from the company finally called back, he's sending some HVAC guy who should be here in about 30 minutes.

So I put a knit cap on DD.

OMG my dad does the exact same thing!!  I won't go to his house in the winter, it's TOO cold!

I mean, I know we're not all going to die in 55 degrees.  My house does have walls so we are protected by winds, we all own jackets and gloves, and we have a small electrical heater.

It's just so stupid that I even have to deal with this.  The worker guys left every single light on in the basement after they left too...every day...for 4 days.  Which, we couldn't turn off because the place was filled with toxic fumes.  Can't wait to see the electric bill.

LOL, I wish there was some way to put that on Kudzu.  It's the review site I found them on, that they really rely on for a lot of their business.

Yeah I played with that.  Mind you, I don't know what I'm doing.  I grew up with a wood stove...not this fancy-schmancy central HVAC stuff.

I am actually a little thankful that we get the HVAC guy.  Maybe he can show me where the damn filter goes.
