well I took two tablespoons an hour ago and I will take 2 more in another hour or so. Has anyone else had success? I am scared to do the whole ounce or two it seems like a lot. I am so pissed at my dr my due date was switched over three months ago to Nov 21st basically the period I was using for my last was only implantation bleeding since it only lasted one day so my real lmp was feb 13th which makes me due nov 21st so now I am past due and worry about his size. My daughter was 8.2 and she had to be vacuumed since I couldn't deliver her and I tore and had an episiotomy I am exttremely worried about having a large baby and needed a c section. My daughter was born at 38 weeks and I am already measuring 41 weeks so I know he is bigger already. My dr refuses to induce me all togwther no matter how late I go. I am so f'ing pissed off this is stupid and I can't even switch dr's since I am so late and on public aid no one will take me. So I am stuck trying to induce myself. If I end up with a c section do to a large baby I swear I will look into a law suit this is all bs. Argh I really hope it works. I have had some mild cramping but that's it. ok so one hour later I had a bowel movement kinda gross but not bad two hours later I took one more tablespoon 2.5 hours later I had another bowle movement again not bad 3 hours later and nothing else, I have been on my feet the last two hours cleaning it has now been almost 4 hours since the first two tablespoons I am about to take one more I haven't had anything more then cramping, while at the hospital for my pre eclampsia labs I did she I was having contractions I never felt them but they were there at least I am also 2 cm dialated and 50% effaced if anyone has any further tips please let me know myy doctor is being completely ignorrant and I do not want to face surgery no matter how not so bad dr's think it is I have a two year old to care for full time afterwards with no friends or family near by and we can not afford for dh to take any time off whatsoever and I need to pick up work asap I can't wait to heal or we will not have a home please no bashing I am not trying to induce at a crazy early time I am sure he is happily healthy rifght now at 41 weeks
Goodluck momma! ive had everyone tell me to do that Im due in 6 days. but I dont find drinking castor oil very healthy and from what my gramma who told me who works in labor and delivery says it makes the delivery much harder and she doesnt suggest it at all . if it doesnt work i do know you will be seeing that toilet quite abit. not all women it works for. but goodluck! and keep us updated!

no one has ever been PG forever. Baby will come when he is ready. as for a law suit if something goes wrong you probably won't get too far with that since YOU decided to take castor oil .

The following is TMI but may help.
You will likely have better results with orgasm. Try masturbation, more than once if need be.
I've never done the Castor oil thing. But I know people who have and the only contractions they got out of it were those caused by diarrhea.

Thats what i would say also! i know sex is a good thing to do. i guess sperm has something in it that will help ripen your cervix and is def a better way. I hope they do decide to induce you. that would not be good for your baby. i know when i was born my parents almost lost me because she had a doctor who wouldnt induce and i was in the oven for too long. I would suggest bugging them about it or getting a different doctor if possible hun

I Know you can't be pregnant forever duh, but I can have a large baby if I am not induced and I go even longer which means obviously I would have a c section I would rather take the chance of inducing and having labor pains then a c section.
and to the person who says it can hurt the baby I have done a lot of research on it and the worst it can do is dehydrate you so you have to keep your water intake up and as for the babies first bowel movement inside utero do more research and you will find that the reason it looks this way is do to the more likely effect of it happenning while past 40 weeks and most women go for castor oil after 40 weeks so there for it looks like there is a rise but there really is no proof to back it
I also am friends with a labor and elivery nurse who has also told me even dr's have told women to do it
I have been induced by pitocin before and i'd much rather labor without it if possible it sucks to be stuck in bed while laboring
well, since you know ALL the answers, why make a post about it then?
seriously, I think it's dumb that you took it and I think it's even more stupid that your doctor doesnt know about it.
The health of your baby should be more important than you worrying if he/she will be big.
I had a c-section with my son because it was in HIS best interest...you should be thinking about your baby, not yourself.

we plan on sex tonight it just hurts so much lately but maybe that's why I haven't gone into labor. See I worry about the whole danger of too long I know the placenta doesn't do its full job after a while and I have been 50% effaced and 2 cm dialated for 8 weeks now I haven't had a single change and with my daughter I stayed effaced until I was induced with no change too. I tried bugging him about induction I even asked about cervadil and he refuses I can't change I actually tried on tuesday but no dr will accept me, my friend mentioned going into labor and elivery and saying I slipped and fell but it sounds to stupid I just want to do this safely with no need of a c section
