is there REALLY a difference in Leapster and Leapster2

Hmm..probably not but I have no clue..

My 5 year old has a v-smile and he is just now starting to play and still sucks at it. I couldn't imagine my 2 1/2 year old trying to play! lol

Yes... My boys had Leapsters when they were 3, and loved them. There isn't a huge difference between the Leapster, and L2 they both play all the same games. The L2 just has a few new features - like the LeapFrog connect that can load into the computer for downloads, and give you parent updates. The games have age ranges, and say what skills they focus on right on the package so I would go by that. TAG, or TAG jr. are a lot of fun too.... They also had the v-tech vsmile before, and didn't like that at all.

we got our boys a leapster and leapster 2 last year they where 4 and 5. Our Daughter who was 2 1/2  played them the most. the only difference we found in them was that the leapster 2 only worked right with the wall plug for about a week..the leapster is still working fine.
