Do you feed into the Nostradamus/Myan/etc predictions that the world will end in 2012? Experts are saying history points to the world ending 12-21-2012.

Have you seen the movie yet?

Thoughts?

No it wont end. They are making it into a big chaos therefore having everyone believe it is coming to an end. They say a planetary alignment along with the moon and stars is supposed to happen. Back in 1962 it happened. It was just a planet alignment with a solar eclipse. Nothing happened then. God also stated in the bible when the war ended it was going to be nearing the end of the world. And that only he knows the date. Its no where close to the end of the war and since 2012 is a date everyone knows its not the end because its not only god who knows the date now huh? lol.

I haven't seen the movie. DH said he heard a lot of reviews that it was just like a bunch of shit being blown up and not much dialogue. So, I don't know if we'll see the movie.

I do not believe in any type of organized religion and do not believe that the world will end on 12.21.2012. I do however, find all of that stuff REALLY interesting. There was this recent documentary type thing on the history channel about Nostradamus and I DVRed it....it was really interesting. Like I said, I don't believe any of it, but it amazes me how intellectual a lot of the people were back then.

I saw the movie.  John Cusack:  still hot.  Woody Harrelson:  best role in the movie.  My 7 year old dd thought it was too long, too loud and too confusing.

And, no, the world isn't going to end on that day.  But if my husband and his friends get their way, I'll end up with dengue from sitting in the frickin' jungle waiting to see what happens at some stupid Mayan temple.

The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions, is not the arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble and that is what man needs to be, considering that human history is just a litany of getting shit dead wrong. - Bill Maher

They said the last alignment like this was 26,000 years ago and ended in the ice age??

I believe only God knows when the world will end. I really don't put a lot of belief in what man says when we are human and we do make mistakes. I believe that if and when the world does end we will know without doubt. I only hope that if it ends in my lifetime I am able to spend my last momments with people I love.

For those that chose "YES", what's your plan?

I mean, if the world is going to end as we know it do you feel it's going to be a famine kind of thing or the world is just going to catch on fire or something? Very curious.

I'm talking about what they said on the 2012 history channel documentary.. it was some type of alignment with the Milky Way galaxy or something, and it only happens every 26,000 years. The last time was when the ice age happened.

Oh Ok I just looked it up and I was reading on it. I also found a great article that said Mayan elders came out and spoke against this end of the world theory. I also ran across this

They divided the 26,000 year precessional cycle into 5 Ages of about 5,125 years each. This is the age which comes to an end 2012. This is not the end of their calendar any more than our calendar ends in 2007. In 2013, the next Age begins and will last 5,125 years in the same way that our Gregorian calendar will go to 2008. The Mayan calendar is further subdivided into tuns, baktuns, etc the same as we divide ours into months and weeks
