I am sitting in my bed with my dd's laptop, which is rare, am not used to this keyboard. But my kidneys have been hurting and couldn't bare to sit in my computer chair right now. Anyway, is it normal for these things to run so hot, the cable is hot and so is the bottom of the computer. I have to have the blanket over my legs, I know this isn't good, cause this thing needs to circulate air. Is it normal for it to bee this freaking hot.I am like a snail typing on this thing. I wish the keys weren't so dark.?

My dh gets hot too. It will probably cut off on you. Let it cool off. The fan inside is probably full of dust etc. Buy a fan for it

Buy a cooling fan for it when you can. Yes they tend to get hot.

Yes mine's always hot.

Yes, they can get super hot! I have a cooling fan that plugs into the USB port, and my mini sits on top of it. It does a great job of keeping it cool. Or you could try sitting your laptop on two books with a distance in between them for air to circulate. Be very careful with the heat, it can cause serious damage to the battery and other components. It's also a fire hazard.

Yup its perfectly normal. But i would not put a blanket under it, you can fry the lap top by over heating it. Get a book or a magazine or something.

haha no offense but it was the funniest thing I have ever saw when my MIL first got a laptop..

Anyways back to your questions..yes it is normal to run hot, sometimes so hot you need to put protection between your legs (wow that sounds sexual) and the computer. Don't worry too much about "overheating" it because it'll still get air unless you completely cover it.

Thanks ladies. I've never heard of a cooling fan. How much are they? Yes, it ends up shutting off all the time. Now we know why. Glad I asked on here. TY all for helping. :0)

Okay moved the blanket and am using the zippered computer cover under it now, it seems to be cooling a little.
