I'm almost 30 weeks along, and I'm exhausted. I sleep about 16 hours a day and still wish I could sleep more...Is this normal, or could it be a sign of something else?
i would say its normal the same thing happen with my dd when i was the same time. just sleep as much as you can.
I was absolutely exhausted when I was pregnant, had no energy for anything. I don't know how many hours a day I slept but I know it was alot too. I think you are ok!

i had a mid wife app at 29 wks almost 30 and i told them i was sleepy too but i thought it was cuz i was further along and have a toddler and am in school. well they checked the iron in my blood and im extremly anemic. i was in my last pregnancy but not this bad. maybe your anemic. do u ever get dizy or light headed (when your standing up and u know ur not dehydrated and u know youve eating something) and ur not laying on your back (thats something different)
I found out the reason i was sleeping so much around 35 weeks pregnancy with my 1st is because I had severe anemia, i thought it was normal, even though in my case it was not because stupid me knew when I ate it alwats hurt my stomach like mad but with all the bad morning sickness to the start of the pregnancy for some months, and expecting morning sickness, or feelign sick over things is part of a progressing pregnancy.
I had i thought its all natural, feeling exhausted and being sick is part of pregnancy. But then panty breathing and having to sit inbetween standing and walking and finding it hard to breathe as well when i walked and slept, i can't believe it never registered to me something was not right for me physically because i thought babies just push on your ribs and make it harder to breathe and that must be all that it was.
With my 2nd pregnancy boy with all iron tablets, no anemia, 3rd pregnancy another girl on tablets made me vomit once and one blood test only revealed just once slightly low iron levels.
yep i get winded too!!! im taking iron pills now but they are "organic" and "vegetarian" lol my cousin got them for me anyway i hear vegetarian pills (prenatal, iron whatever) help with the upset stomach thing. so many ppl get sick from vitamins and supplements

Sweetheart at your next prenatal health visit just get the doctor/midwife to check your iron levels with a blood test and they can help you from there if your iron levels are not where they are supposed to be at for a pregnant lady. Babies do take what they need from the nutrients in the pregnant ladies blood, and other nutrients from there body, to help them grow.
Just be aware that vegetarian sources of iron are non-hem iron, which is not as readily absorbed by the body. I am vegetarian, so I only get non-hem iron. For months, I've been taking 210% of the DV in pill form, at the recommended time of day, with vitamin c, which helps with the absorbtion, as well as eating a healthy, balanced diet, but I am still slightly anemic. If you are not vegetarian, and you're anemic, it's probably better for you to not take the vegetarian tablets.

I'm at pretty much exactly the same point of pregnancy you are and this is my second. I'm so tired it's all I can do to keep my eyes open and I have ZERO energy.
I had my iron levels checked at my 28 week visit and my levels are "dangerously low" so that is what's zapping my energy. I'm in between a rock and a hard place though. I still have morning sickness and my prenatals are a major trigger... I will spend 20-30 minutes in the bathroom sick after taking them. So I'm on iron tablets and Flinstones vitamins.... I also have my dr saying he will want to admit me to the hospital if things don;t improve and the iron tablets are making me sick too...
Get your iron levels checked and GL
