So I'm going shopping in a little bit and I've got so much cash, but someone one said something to me that made me wonder.
If you know your paycheck will clear sunday night/monday morning, would you write a check on friday?

I think your main problem might be that most places don't take personal checks anymore because of all the people that write ones that don't clear. I bet cash would be easier just because of that.
What are you getting? I am so excitedd about this chrsitmas LOL.

I am a 27 year old Stay at home mommy to one perfect little girl named Violet 09/30/08. And married to my best friend, my soul mate, an amazing man named Brian 10/20/06. I am one very lucky mommy and wife...I am Ali.
I wanted to get some new clothes for Ds. He's outgrowing everything width wise (think of a hobbit) and now that we're moving to cold ass germany, I need to stock up on warm clothes.

They take a few days, so go for it. It will not get cashed on Friday. Probably not til Tuesday or Wednesday.

I rarely use checks, how long do they take to clear?
Nope. The electronic checks just validate that the account is active. It still takes a few days. I don't use checks all that much, but I have used them in that manner, and they always take a few days. Electronic or not.

Depends on the place. Some places do electronic checks that clear right away. But if it's just an average check (they take it, stamp it, or just put it in the register) it's going to take at least 3 business days to clear.
I feel you on the Clothes things I have to get some for Violet as well, she is just the opposite. She is tall and skinny in the 110% for height. 75% for weight. BTW your DS is ADORABLE!
Germany is freezing but it is pretty cool you might like it :)

This is FALSE... and how do I know this.. because I used to be young and dumb (only 2 years ago) And I tried to write a check to K Mart (we were getting paid the next day) and it was DENIED because there wasnt suficent funds in my account.
Chances are if you are shopping major stores with checks and no money in accounts.. then.... your not gonna get anywhere...
OP, no I would NEVER again write checks that I do not ALREADY have money in the bank to cover.
