So every year I make it a point to do something, even if its only small, for someone else. So this yr I gave my mom and dad $80 because they didnt have the money for x-mas. My dad is on total disablity that he just got so hes still trying to get things caught up from the times they had NOTHING, and my mom quit working to help my SIL with childcare, and then my SIL doesnt pay her for most of the time. So I thought i should do that, even though i couldnt give a whole lot but it helps! We went together for shopping black friday at walmart and all the grand kids got something from them and they even got a big picture frame!
So I wanted to start a post to ask everybody what they are doing to help someone else, big or small it doesnt matter, these are some hard times for everyone!!
That is a great idea. I give year round, and usually don't do anything extra this time of year unless you count putting change in the salvation army buckets. I love what you did for your family though. I need to look for something like that to do as well. Thanks for sharing!
ahh man I was going to add that I should really try and do this through the whole yr but I forgot (sleep deprived!)... Its very nice of you to do all yr!!!

we're adopting a family for christmas - buy each member a present and provide the makings for dinner. we'll also contribute to our church's giving tree - take an ornament and buy what's on the back of it, plus the kids' school usually adopts a family or two and we will contribute to that.
i'm a rabble rouser so i figure my biggest contribution is not causing a ruckus.
I just chose my favorite charity and have it debited from my account on payday. I never see the money and never think about it... and I believe it comes back to you :) It was hard to get in the habit, but I'm so glad I did.

Oh I wanted to tell yall about what I did last yr. My LO just got off formula and I had lots of cans of formula left over from stock up and tons of cereal my son hated and jars of baby food (omg target had a coupon for 50 cents off 2 gerber foods so it made jars of baby food like 2 to 4 cents for 2!!!!) So I took it all to the community office because they had familys who asked for help with food and gifts for the holidays and I had 2 big garbage bags full of stuff! It was soo awesome, I think that was the best time I can think of right now!
