How long after you lost your mucus plug did it take for you to go into labor? I know it could take weeks or minutes but Im just curious how it went for you ladies... Im 37 weeks, Wednesday I was 3 cm dialated and 30% effaced, and BH contranctions a lot, today I noticed I have milk (yes milk) coming out of my nipples (well one lol) and I lost my mucus plug this morning. Background on my first one.... No signs or symtoms of labor at all ended up being induced. I didnt even know what a contraction felt like until I was induced with him lol.... So if you ladies could answer my ? that would be wonderrrrrrful :D
I lost my mucus plug around 2:30 Am and my daughter was born at 5:47 Pm the contractions were not extra strong at 2 but by 4 they were intense just not close together. We stayed home until 9 because even though they were still not consistent in timing they were very strong. I was dialated to 4.5 by the time we got there.
shedding mucus through your pregnancy is fairly normal. Hunks of it even. Generally unless its pink or bloody it doesn't really indicate pending labor as like the previous reply said your body will make more. I know from my experience I have lost significantly large peices of yellowish/whiteish mucus months before delivering but if it was pink tinged or really bloody I have gone into labor that day.
I have heard the majority of women lose the mucous plug about a week to two weeks before going into labor, some earlier, some later and some do not even notice they lost it. Losing your mucous plug does not guarantee you will begin labor in a certain amount of time though. But you are getting very close! I do know that if a woman loses her mucous plug before the 36th week, it is a cause for concern and the doctor should be notified immediately just to make sure it's not preterm labor or anything.
Personally, with my first I did not notice any globs in my panties, I was told it probably passed while I was urinating. But I was told at my 38th week appointment that it had dislodged and I had to be induced just a couple days shy of 42 weeks, so the theory above was marked true for me...
