Dang Insurance Company! Dang Drivers Not Paying Attention!
So, yesterday I was rearended on the way to my grandma's house for Thanksgiving. The girls and I are okay, my car, not so much!! I get that it is a holiday weekend, but it sucks because now I don't have a car to drive until Monday!! What really sucks is that I am pretty sure they will total my car. I don't want them too because they won't give me enough money to get another car, and we can not afford a car payment right now. I hate car accidents!! I just wish people paid a little more attention when driving. The guy that hit me was very upset, especially when he saw my kids were in the car. I know it was an accident, but he admitted that he wasn't paying attention and didn't see me stopped waiting to turn. I can't change it now, but hopefully he learned to pay attention while driving!!
At least you and your kiddos are ok! I totaled our car once(Feb in Alaska sucks for driving lol); and I actually lucked out. After paying off our car loan we still got enough to buy a new to us car flat out. I guy my DH knew was selling a 99 Chrysler LHS in gorgeous condition for $5000(in feb 07). He wanted to get rid of it so his ex wife didn't get it in the divorce. LOL SO you never know, things may work out just fine! For us it was a blessing because we had really wanted to get a bigger vehicle(the loss was a ford focus hatchback); but just didn't have the money for it.
A reminder though; DO NOT USE THE CAR SEATS!!!!! The other guys insurance agency needs to cover the cost of replacing them too. I had Progressive; and while the other guy and I had 50/50 liability, my insurance didn't bat an eye when I said I needed my seats replaced. I just had to bring the seats into the agency, and he looked up their worth, and wrote me a check right there.

You should go ahead and call his insurance company. They can put you into a rental.
I do remember hearing that you are not supposed to use the seats again. Here is a question though; my youngest (3 months) was in her carrier, in the base. Do I replace just the base, or both base and carrier? We have a second car seat for my oldest (3 years) so I can still cart her around until the replace. Should I just go buy a new one for the baby and get them to pay me back?
