so i saw a commercial for the 60 minutes show about how rihanna was coming on the air to share her story of being abused. Is it only me or does this stuff piss you off to?? They act like they are the only ones who have ever been abused and need their stories to be heard more than anyone else. Celebrities annoy me so much!  They think they suffer more than us and they think they deserve more then us.

  • She could be doing it to help other abused women.  Letting them know that there is a way out, no matter what, and they don't have to sit there and take it.

  • With them being celebrities people tend to listen more. she was willing to speak about it. Im sure she was asked to speak about it. and she agreed to. maybe it will help someone women speak up if they are being abused ya know

  • It doesn't really bother me. If it helps one abused woman stand up for herself and say no more, than it's awesome.

  • Personally I'm glad shes sharing her story. Hearing someone famous and a role model for so many people surviving and talking about it will help give strength to other women also going through it. I think its a good thing and more women should talk about it.

  • Sometimes, it takes a celebrity sharing their story to allow others in a similar situation to get help. It's been that way forever. I am not saying it is right or wrong, but it's the way it is.

It doesn't bother my personally, if Rihanna going out and telling her story helps one woman in an abusive relationship to have the strength to walk away from her abuser..or to seek help..then it's worth it.

  • I just saw a news report that said that abuse within teen relationships (as well as stalking) is on the rise.

A lot of teenagers are fans of hers. Perhaps they shouldn't, but they look up to her. If her sharing her story means that other teens will keep themselves from being abused or get out of an abusive relationship then I think her intentions are honorable.

To answer your question, though, celebrities annoy the piss out of me in general.

  • It does not bother me one bit, I am glad she is talking about it. After her interview with ABC aired, calls to domestic violence hotlines shot up and it is helping women in these situations to get the help they are scared to.

  • Honestly, I would be more annoyed if she DIDN'T talk about it. Celebrities are often put in a bubble that leads regular people to think the celebs have no "real world" problems.  She has the opportunity to speak out and let other women/men know that they can get out of the abuse and that they can overcome it.

  • It actually irritates me when celebrities dont say anything. I mean the world is listening so they should be using that spotlight to say something worth hearing. I watched her interview and I didnt see a problem with anything she said.

  • After she talked about it on air, the abuse hotline went up 60%. So she helped women stand up for themselves.
