Looking for a good vacuum for hardwood, carpet and a hose with great suction?
We mainly have hardwood but we also have some carpet. And we have a tan colored couch so we need a good hose to keep it clean. When listing what you recommend please note if you had any problems or anything you didn't like about. Also please let me know of some that you don't recommend. Thanks!
We have all hardwoods with areas rugs. We have an Electrolux canister vacuum. It works great!!
I've been going through about one vacuum a year....and we only have carpet in 2 bedrooms and a large area rug in the living room. Everything else is hardwood. But, we have 3 cats, so the hair and the litter I think is what does them in. I don't know what to suggest for your carpet, but on my hardwood I use the Swifter Vac. I'm on my second one of those in about 3 years. My first one worked better, this one still does pretty well.....the battery just doesn't seem to hold a charge as long. I'm looking into trying the Shark to replace that.
I wish I could afford what my mom has. It's an Electrolux canister vac. You can put the carpet attachment or a bare floor attachment on it. She paid serious money for it.....it has lasted over 10 years, though. She's also hard on it.....3 dogs and 2 cats and she's almost as much of an obsessive cleaner as I am, lol.
I have never been able to find a vacuum, other than that one, that does both carpet and hardwood well. They always just fling the stuff everywhere on the hardwood instead of sucking it up.

we have a kirby and it's the best thing since sliced bread. it also has a lifetime warranty so I'll never have to buy another vacuum. it's fabulous on pet hair too.
I have a Eureka Boss vacuum. It works great on hardwood floors and has a great suction with the hose. We have all hardwood floors and carpet just on the stairs. We also have a bird that throws its seed all over the place so i'm always sucking it up with the hose off the couch and such. I wish I could afford an electrolux vacuum. They work the best as far as I'm concerned. My mom has always had one. THey last the longest too. The only thing I don't like about my vacuum is that its on the heavy side. But it does work great!
My Dyson DC17 put the Kirby vacuum to shame! I had a friend who was trying to sell them and they have a baking soda test and she said "Your vacuum was supposed to leave SOMETHING for me to pick up". LOL I love my Dyson and it was a third of the Kirby price. I sucked up my sons costume once and broke the belt, but the belt has a lifetime warranty, so I took it back to Sears and they fixed it for free. TWICE! So worth the $500 plus tax! Can you tell I LOVE my vacuum? :)
We have a Dyson and LOVE it! I don't know the model number but it's the Animal and it's purple :)
