It's the woman right *Warning sexual content*

Sex is the woman's right, not the man's. A man has a duty to give his wife sex regularly and to ensure that sex is pleasurable for her. He is also obligated to watch for signs that his wife wants sex, and to offer it to her without her asking for it. The woman's right to sexual intercourse is referred to as onah, and is one of a wife's three basic rights (the others are food and clothing), which a husband may not reduce. The Talmud specifies both the quantity and quality of sex that a man must give his wife. It specifies the frequency of sexual obligation based on the husband's occupation, although this obligation can be modified in the ketubah (marriage contract). A man may not take a vow to abstain from sex for an extended period of time, and may not take a journey for an extended period of time, because that would deprive his wife of sexual relations. In addition, a husband's consistent refusal to engage in sexual relations is grounds for compelling a man to divorce his wife, even if the couple has already fulfilled the halakhic obligation to procreate.

What do you think of this? Hubby thought it was funny when we where studying for our conversion. I like the fact that it is a woman's right. Some religions feel it is the mans right.

Its neither the man or womans 'duty' to give each other sex...i see it as a perk...i'd still be with my husband even if we never had sex...

That's interesting... wonder how men feel when they see this and realize the tables are turned.... I'm going to have to tell my SO... too bad we're not religious.

I really don't care if we ever do it again I am not that into it never have been. I do love my husband but having long days you just never want it. I just found it odd because when we where studying for our conversion this came up. I have heard may religions say a woman has to sexually obey her husband. I kind of like that for once it is the other way around.

True.  I didn't marry my husband just for sex.  Plus, I would prefer better quality than quantity.  I would skip on the every day or weekly sex that wasn't great and wait for the big bang once a month.  Plus having two kids in a small living space does not really put me in the mood.  I hate planned sex, it takes all the romance out of it for me.  So I always plan not to, and if it happens that is great and if it doesn't I am not disappointed.

The word 'duty' cracks me up. I agree with your hubby; it IS funny. Sounds like something from the 'dark ages' to me!

My favorite part is  "and is one of a wife's three basic rights (the others are food and clothing),"

Is this implying that sex is more important than shelter?
