Okay ladies I have been breastfeeding Asher for almost 6 months now and I feel like my milk isnt filling him up any more and I feel that for me personally I am ready to stop breastfeeding. So I have atempted to give him formula and he eats baby food once a day but HE HATES formula. He will not drink it. Ive tried everything from me feeding it to him, to my husband and even my mother with me out of the room. NOTHING WORKS! Any suggestions on how to get him to switch off of the boob. Oh and I know he takes a bottle just fine....cuz if I pump he gobbles it down but the second he knows its formula he spits it out and screams bloody murder until I BF him.
PLEASE HELP, I'm frustrated and worn out and totally lost when it comes to ideas.
Thanks Mommies
Maybe try pumping, and mix it a little at a time with formula until he is completly drinking formula...we are having this issue with my 4 month old except he LOVES the boobie and the bottle lol, so i just nurse him, give him a bottle and/or cereal depending on whether he is still hungry...

I had the same problem with my son. And unfortunately he never ended up taking formula. But he is two now and were still nursing lol. I think every breastfeeding mom goes threw this around this time, You just gotta get over this hump. But you can decrease his feedings by introducing more and more solids.
Awww Im sorry! Try increasing his baby food feedings gradually to 2 and 3 times a day. Try Gerber (or off brand) Puffs- they are like melt in your mouth cereal.. Or cheerios, in addition to the rice cereal. Have you tried several different brands? Congrats on making it this far with Bfing!

As your baby gets older the breast milk changes, it is still full of nutrients but it is thinner and more watery than when they are younger and it is full of needed fats. It might be that he needs less of it now than he did before, but he still needs it. He might be refusing the formula because of the taste and it also might now agree with his body and that is his way of letting you know.
My doctor suggested pumping milk and mixing it with formula, increasing the amount of formula in the mix per week. So start with 1/4 formula and 3/4 milk, and going from there. We did the same thing when we transitioned from formula to cow's milk. It worked really, really well.
