I'm going to drop their dog off in the middle of nowhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK... so we're staying with my parents for a couple months until we find our own place. We just moved out of state to comeback home. My parents have a HORRIBLE horrible akita (they've had her for 2 months, she's full grown, raised in an abusive home) that bites other dogs and i'm scared its going to bite one of my kids. my parents are in denial or ignorant about the dogs behavior.. She has bit 4 dogs in a 4 days. one of which is their other crippled dog! She took a huge chunk out of his neck, and has attacked him twice... my parents make excuses and shrug off the behavior...
What would be the right thing to do! i totally wish i could just take it somewhere and drop it off!!!
Wow. i love dogs but i think your parents should probably not keep the dogs. I don't know if they know this but Akitas were bred to take down a bear... I know i wouldn't want my kid to be around a dog that is that powerful and is aggressive. That's not good. and i love big dogs!
The best thing to do IMO would be to watch your kids like a hawk and get out of there ASAP. It's their house and their dog. They're letting you guys stay there as a favor, it doesnt seem right to tell them they should have to get rid of their dog because you all don't like the dog or feel safe ya know?
Just because a dog attacks another dog doesn't mean it will attack people. However, if you aren't comfortable with the dog around your children then maybe you need to find another place. The only experience I have with Akita's is my neighbor had one and it was never allowed around anyone but their immediate family members because it was protective and might bite/hurt someone else. It would not be cool to dump their dog. It's their home afterall. Although, personally, I wouldn't have a dog around my granddaughter that I didn't trust.

yeah. i agree.. when we move out i wont feel comfortable having the kids over here at all... especially since they think nothing is wrong and are in denial. its scary!
You can contact your local chapter of the akc, vets, Akita rescue, aspca and they will help you find a low cost obedience class. While I was growing up my BFFs Grandmother ran one and had us help her out a lot. You can tell them that since it is a working dog you thought it would be nice if it had a "job" to keep it occupied

we can't afford something like that..: / that can get expensive.. the thing is.. they think nothing is wrong.

Why not sign them up for obedience training, pay for it, and say it was a gift?
