We are going to get our 14 year old DD a straightener for Christmas.
What brand do you all use and/or which brand would you recomend for her?
Ceramic or metal plates work better?

Can you tell I am not a 'girly girl'? LOL I have no clue about this kind of stuff

Chi is the way to go.  They run between $99-$149 but I have had mine for 6 years and it is by far the best product I have ever used.  Their straightening shampoos and serums are also very good!

I personally like the CHI. It comes in all these pretty colors, even leopard and zebra print! Its a very good brand and have been using it for a loooong time. It can be a little pricey though depending on where you get it but its so worth it.

I found a Chi on sale for 89 dollars today. I think it was at target but I may be mistaken, I went a lot of places today and looked at even more ads. Whatever the brand though, I would stick with ceramic.

I have the Wet-toStraight by Conair (I think that's who makes it) & I asked my DH for a Chi because I have heard they are the best.

Both my 14 and 13 yo's have this one

Both my girls have long, thick, wavy hair. They both love this straightener. They say the steam, the attached comb, and the adjustable heat are the best. They like this one better than the expensive CHI brand ones they did have.

I just bought a replacement today after the one I had for 6 years got ruined when my 2 1/2 year old got his hands on it. I bought the Remington Wet 2 Straight 2 inch iron. It was $33 at Kohls but I just found it cheaper at Walmart.

I never used it so I don't know how well it works, my previous one was about $90 on sale and it worked great but I read the reviews for this one when I got home and it has like a 4.8 out of 5 stars and it has a lot of features. I think it's a good buy for the money.

I use an Andis and it's the ONLY (and I've used Chi and Ion among other brands) that will straighten my hair.
