Have any of you ladies ever filed bankrupt? If so, tell me everything you know about the entire process. I want to hear personal stories. I have been researching my opitions and now would like first hand advice. TIA.

Ok Ill be the 1st. I filed bankruptcy this year. Why because I am in the process of fixing my credit score so that I do not have to live a life of high interest rates. I made a lot of mistakes when I was younger and decided I needed a fresh new start. Since the law allows me I did it.
I paid about $850 plus about $30 for the internet counseling I had to go to. 1st you go to an attorney and give them all your bills and information. After that about 30 day later you get a court day. Its called the meeting of creditors. Basically this is where your creditors can dispute having your debt erased. No one normally comes. (At least not in my case) Make sure you got all your bills, but if you forget one they normally won't come after you because they know that it should have been included into bankruptcy and an amendment will include it. Include bills you plan to keep paying too.
About a month later you go to the bk court. They ask you a few questinos 5 mins max and approve it.
2 months later you will receive your discharge notice and car dealerships will start trying to sell you a car.
I kept my car but didn't reaffirmed. Then it broke down so I just sent it back to them and bought I new car. I don't owe the old car company anything. My credit scored decreased about 100 points. But I have student loans that I pay on time EVERY month. So right now I don't have bad credit I have fair credit. I figure within a year i will be in the middle 600s and by 2011 I will be in the 700s

it sounds like you filed a chapter 7. Chapter 7 bankruptcy is mostly consumer debts...credit cards, medical bills. You include all your bills, and sign agreements with the companies of items you want to keep, like your house or car.
A chapter 13 will help you if you are trying to stop foreclosure. You make payments to a trustee who then disperses those payments to your creditors. You're normally in it for 3-5 years, depending on what you owe.
I worked for a bankruptcy attorney.

I have a house that I would like to avoid foreclosure on, but not live on the property, I have personal loans, a car payment and medical bills.
Yes that is true. Our house is in my SO's name so I didn't have a house to lose. I don't know much about a chp 13. Sorry lol
