Girl guitar...WOO HOO!

OK, my DD wants a guitar, so she can play like Hannah Montana. I happen to love music. I play piano and sing. I can teach her to read music, and should be able to help her learn on her own how to play guitar. If she inherited perfect pitch I come from a long line of singers)then she and I will do fine for the basics. I have decided I will try if she genuinely wants to learn.

So, I did some research and found that for her height she should be learning on a 1/2 size guitar (approx. 36"). But, my mom found a "my first" accoustic steel string (30") or 1/4 size for only $15. Plus it's Disney, and Pink. Yeah, you saw it in the Wal-Mart ad for today.

I think this should be fine for the few months it will take to be sure she really wants to learn and is willing to practice. Then move her up one size at a time till she's at the 3/4 which she will use till she's fully grown and switches to a full size.

Do any of you play? If so, what is your opinion of this strategy. I am more than willing to buy her the best size to start with if a smaller guitar will cause her to  learn with bad posture and hand positioning. I am just not sure I need to till I am sure she will actually do this..

Help!

So it is an actual guitar and not a toy one?? I think it is a good plan to start her on one that is her size and then gradually move up.  You may want to talk to a person who knows more about that instrument though to make sure. There are many girly non branded guitars out there but i am not sure about sizes.
