if you were born in washington dc can you be president?

 do you have to be born in a state or can it be a district or territory?

I think you just have to be a citizen born in the U.S. lol I would assume that means Washington DC not sure about territories

WOW sorry but you must NEVER had paid attention in History or Geography in school. You have to be BORN in the UNITED STATES. Washington DC is IN MARYLAND a STATE

Washington DC isnt a state, its the district of Columbia.. It is a district between Md and Va..

and yes you can be born in DC and be a president.. You can be born overseas in an American hospital and be president..

She isn't saying DC is a STATE...but it is in the United States, and if you are born there you are born a citizen of the United States...what an odd question this post is...

So, yes, someone born in D.C. can be president. 

It's okay.  I once believed that if you honked at an armadillo in the road, they could jump up and go through your windshield.  ;-)

I didnt say it WAS a state. I have always known it to be IN Maryland which IS a state. My uncle lived right outside it for a few years.

DC isnt IN Maryland, that is what I meant... It is a territory BETWEEN MD and VA
