Does anyone know how much the prescription diaper rash cream Vusion costs? My friend wanted her dr to prescribe it to her, but she does not have insurance. Mine was $30 w/ insurance and that is the highest copay (non preferred brand)... I know I could call the pharmacy, but our local pharmacy will not be open til Monday so I was hoping someone on here had an idea! Thanks!
Never heard of it. My sons pediatrician reccomended Bordeaux's Butt Paste. A tub of it is $16, but it lasts a long time, and I just LOVE it.
Thanks! Vusion contains an antifungal, zinc and petrolatum... however we have been told it costs around $230. Not sure how true that is. Hoping it's less expensive for my friend's sake

athletes foot cream is an antifungal and also used for babys with yeast infections on their bottoms. You can just buy that over the counter too. Most of the prescriptions a doctor will give you for the cream will say it's OTC. Eating yogurt does wonders for a babys butt as well...if they're old enough.

Why doesn't your friend combine...
Athlete's foot cream, diaper rash cram (zinc oxide) and vaseline (protectant)

I just went and got the butt paste to look at it. The active ingredient in it is zinc oxide (skin protectant) and petrolatum as an inactive ingredient. Instead of shelling out all of that money I would suggest to her the butt paste, and some OTC athletes foot cream. I would put the AFC (generics works just as well) on my sons bottom first, then the butt paste and then sprinkle on some cornstarch. The cornstarch asorbs some of the wetness and protects the skin better. I use it (the cornstarch)even when he doesn't have a rash, as a preventative. I hope this helps!
This is what I wrote! lol
It's simple.
Equal parts DOLLAR STORE anti-fungal foot cream, vaseline, and diaper rash cream (zinc oxide)....

Thanks ladies! DH was hogging the computer so I wasn't able to get on for a while! Oh, and it is in the $200 range. She called a CVS pharmacy in a nearby town. I was shocked at the price... What do pharmaceutical companies do with this profit? You could probably make the tube of cream for $3!
Yup, $200 w/o insurance...I checked because the Dr. prescribed this for my son (I have insurance though)....When my son is teething he gets this really bad rash that will not go away with anything Desitin, Butt Paste, A and D, Vaseline, etc. nothing will work. As soon as the teething stops, it clears up, like magic....However, I am going to try mixing them like the PPs suggested, I am willing to try anything that works. AHHH, tell your friend that Nystatin (Powder) works well too and I am sure it is not as expensive, I get it with insurance for $10.
The active antifungal in Vusion is actually the antifungal in Monistat. However, it is a stronger dosage in the monistat. So you could actually dilute it with the Zinc and Petrolatum. Her baby actually has the Nystatin and it has not worked - so she wanted to check out Vusion... Way too expensive for what it really is!
