so, about a month ago emily came down with an ear infection. took her to Pedi, and they gave her 'pink medsin' (thats what she calls it lol) it cleared up , took her back 3 weeks after for checkup to make sure it cleared. she was fine.

so this week i notice shes scratching the same ear, but no fever that i had noticed. which is odd because my lil girl ALWAYS gets a fever with an ear infection. within the next few days she starts pulling away from loud sounds and crying hysterically when someone comes close to her ear or touches it. so 2 nights ago i took her to ER at 2:30 am because she was crying so bad, i wanted to make sure she didnt stick something in there and perforate her eardrum or something. we have had issues with that before, she stuck corn in her ears like 2 months ago and we were able to get one piece out, but it was bloody so took her to er to get the other piece out lol...

anyway...im really getting OT lol ....Dr said she has Otitis media and Otitis externa...inner and outer ear infection. YAY...more "pink medsin", antibiotic eardrops and motrin for pain and incase she started to run a fever. bring her home, giving her medicine. all is fine

until yesterday.  She started this barky/hacky kind of cough, sounds like she has a tickle in her throat, but im noticing signs of croup. its getting worse, staring to sound more like a bark, not the telltale seal bark yet, and she has "stridor", which is the wheezing whistely sound between each bark.  im gonna keep an eye on her tonight, see if she spikes a fever, and if she is still hacking tomorrow im gonna call her pedi. the PA is on call this weekend, which is great because i really like her. my oldest DS had croup when he was little too, so i recognise it, im hoping its just a lil cough though, shes so tiny and its already kickin the crap out of her. oh well...just a vent...thanks for reading :)

unfortunately i dont have a humidifier. she has an electric heater built into the wall in her room, thinking about sitting a cup of water on it. maybe some vicks vaporub. shes not congested though, so i dont think that would work.

It sounds like it mught be or bronchitis. Unfortunatly it is all connected so if she had an infection in her ear it very well could have traveled. Good luck don't stress. My middle use to get that turns out after taking her endlessly to the Dr and ER she has ashma.

Sit in the steamy bathroom with her for 20 min or open the freezer door and let her breath the cold air.  If you live some place where its cool out stand outside with her well bundled but let her breath the cool air...hope she feels better soon
