What should Americans be entitled to?

Over Thanksgiving we had alot of family over and we had a discussion over what American's should be entitled to.  We had the old school "no one is entitled to a damn thing" to the more liberal "every American should recieve the same cut" and it got me thinking on a wider scale.  So I am curious as to what we moms think American's should be entitled to?  I do not believe in socialized healthcare, but do think that all uninsured Americans should recieve government issued insurance - I mean in reality, it is more expensive to treat a very sick patient in the ER where no one can be turned down than to offer preventative care to those who cannot afford it.  I also believe that all American's should be entitled to their retirement funds no matter what happens to them - maybe this will get our country more actively engaged into the activity that CEO's of large corporations are participating in!  I think that Uncle Sam has been turning his head at this behavior and feel like the government owes the people who lost everything some sort of compensation.  What are your thoughts?

I just wanted to let you know that when most people think of this:

socialized healthcare,

they are talking about exactly this:

all uninsured Americans should recieve government issued insurance

I also wanted to say that I agree with your thoughts expressed in your original post.  Also, even though most people call insuring the uninsured "socialized health care", they are wrong and are just ignorant.

Everyone should be allowed a chance to be healthy and happy.Happiness and health go hand in hand,no one that is in poor health ever feels happy. For some of us it isnt as easy as finding a job that has benefits or paying out of pocket for health insurance.there should be no disqualifying conditions in health insurance if you pay for it or qualify for something from the gov't you should be allowed to get all the care that you need as defined by your PCP.

I do believe everyone should have healthcare if they are not insured.  I don't want to lose my private insurance, but I don't have any problem with the government offering healthcare to those who can't afford it.  I believe in Texas all uninsured children can get CHIPS but adults are left out.

We should have the right to real freedom and not just say so and not so! We should have the right to real privetsy by all including our government and law! We should have our rights and have them upheld by law instead of told we do when we really don't!!!! We should be protected and have healthcare if we get sick and can't afford it! Nobody in this country should have to be homeless or hungry! We should not be taxed on every thing we do or buy!
