I went to Yale and my dd is 16 and a sophomore in high school. How will my being a Yale graduate effect her acceptance? How much will her chances increase?

I don't know the exact numbers, but I do know that if your family is alumni at any school you have better chances. It's not an automatic in though....Good Luck!

Not very much, I don't think. My father in law went to Harvard. My husband, who got great grades (top 10% of his class) applied for Harvard (basically because that's where his dad went) and didn't get accepted. I think the schools look more at the person individually, rather than who their parents are.

I don't know about acceptance rates, but many universities do offer tuition at a discounted rate for children of alumni.  That is a nice benefit if they do that.
