We're using FIL's tree this year and when DH went to get it I told him to only accept the cheap ornaments for our use. I know FIL, he tries to give you the cow when you just want the milk, KWIM? Well, he sent over 2 boxes of ornaments, some from the 70's. What happens first? Katie picks up a bulb from 1977 (date is printed on it) and before I could get to her, she squeezed it. Luckily, it's covered in plastic and just the inside broke, but there's one down. There was a specific reason I didn't want his old ornaments. I don't want to spend the next month policing the tree. I want them to be able to touch the things on it. Ugh. Those stupid "antiques" are going straight back to his house.

Lmao sheesh! I don't blame you :) Thankfully your dd didn't get cut!

I know what you mean. DH has this thing about glass christmas bulbs. For some reason he loves them. He would love if all that was on the tree were Christmas bulbs. Now I think the glass bulbs are nice but I hate them. They are so impersonable I dont want them on our tree. Another reason why I dont want them on our tree is because I have a 3 yr old who loves to redecorate the tree daily. Since Wed. I have picked up 12 broken glass bulbs. Aghh its frustrating.
AWWW I am sorry.
We use my MIL's old ornaments..they were her grandmother's..they date back to WWI...luckily the girls have grown up with them...and they know they are very special...we have not lost one!

we have ornaments from my great grandmothers family. they feel thin like paper but are glass bulbs. they are amazingly beautiful but we don't use them anymore. Every year some how our tree gets knocked over and after looking about 20 of them we stopped putting them up. So I know exactly what your talking about. With a little one that could be pretty dangerous.
OH LORD!!! I lucked out, I didn't have to do the midnight opening...from what I understand, the line was incredibly long..they started letting people in, and at one point, literally people couldn't move, we had reached the max capcity our building could hold, so they had to shut the doors and not allow anyone else in for about half an hour. Our store manager has been there for 13 years and she said she has NEVER seen anything like it...by the time I got there at noon, it was steady and busy, but not crazy...we just got all the cranky, sleepy customers...
