Ok, so I watched this new show on A&E last night called Hoarders and let me tell you it was the MOST disgusting thing I have ever seen. They removed 8,000 lbs of trash and debris from this womans house and in the midst of it found 2 cats that had died in the house under all the crap and she had no idea. Have any of you seen this or something like this in real life???? I just can't fathom it.

my grandmother actually had this problem before she succumbed to Alzheimer's. its a very hard thing to deal with and they really can't stop. she still hords things in her little room that she has in the hospice she is in. i beliveve that it is a combination of emotional and mental distress.

I haven't seen anything that bad. My DH's parents throw almost everything in their spare bedroom and their closests are all full of junk. I don't think they are necessarily hoarders, but maybe a little lazy. It is easier for them to just hide it away instead of just throwing it out. Out of site out of mind so to speak, but none of it is your typical garbage.

I watched it last night. I was telling a friend about it today and when I went to describe the bed I started gagging and could not tell her. The women's attitude was terrible. She was not thankful and acted so mean to her daughter.

My husband is a hoarder - but not to that degree!  I throw things out when he isn't looking.  Now, he doesn't keep trash, just stuff.

I saw a neighbors house alot like that when I was younger. She had kids, and the house was loaded with trash, there was a dead animal stuck to the kitchen floor. It was horrible. They evicted her and the state took the kids.
