White Birthmarks?

When my daughter was born I noticed she had a white oval shape on her leg. Its just a lighter color then her actual skin. She is now 2 and I have noticed 2 more of them. One on her neck and another on her inner thigh by her diaper line. I have asked the doc and they said its just a birthmark and not to worry about it but I was just wondering how common it is? I have never seen it before. I dont have any pictures of it right now on this computer. So if you know anyone or have heard of it before that would be great! I just want to know she is not the only one.

It is fairly common.  It is just an absence of melanin (skin pigment) in that spot.

My husband and all my children have them.

I have one on my upper back....my doc told me it was a mole without pigment.  Nothing to worry about in my case.
