I'm sorry, but HOW did you get this job? A little vent...
I have been on pins and needles trying to get an ultrasound scheduled for over a week. Thanks to my doctor not knowing how to enter a referral, or where to refer me to, and everything with the military having to be approved by multiple people before going anywhere, it has taken ages! It was 8 days ago when my doctor first implied something might be wrong, and still, we know nothing. I swear, I'd hold a sonographer hostage just to get some answers at this point!
Today, I finally got through to the civillian provider who is supposed to do the ultrasound. The following was my conversation with the person who scheduled my appointment. This, of course, was 24 hours after I initially called them to schedule, they said they were very busy and did not want me to wait on hold, but they would call me back later in the day. It was also well after I tried calling again, since it was the end of the business day and clearly no one was planning to return my call from 8:30 that morning, and no one answered the phones in the clinic ... three times. This was also after the woman on the phone acknowledged having received my referral and spent quite some time shuffling through papers looking for it, only to give up and take my information all over again.
"What kind of ultrasound do you need?"
"I need an obstetric ultrasound."
"A what."
"An obstetric ultrasound."
"A WHAT?"
"A n o b s t e t r i c u l t r a s o u n d."
"Umm ... uhhh ... maybe you mean, like, OB?"
Uh, yes, since OB is short for obstetric, that is exactly what I mean.
I said obstetric, rather than prenatal or OB because that is how this particular clinic refers to it in all of their literature, not because I'm a snob.
I would be afraid to go to a place for an ultrasound where the employees did know what an obstetric ultrasound is. Thats kinda like going to mcdonalds and having to explain a big mac lol
I'm sorry your going through that. I hope they get everything straightened out and get you an appointment soon.
Ha. I agree. Unfortunately, it's the one and only option around here! Hopefully the sonographer knows what it is, at least ; )

Thanks : )
If I could switch, I would! The husband and I are stationed in Guam and the options are pretty limited here, but I'm trying my best to work with what I've got!
Quoting TaraJJones:Good!! I hope everything is okay with your baby... and maybe you should switch ob's?
Quoting montessori_mama:
Yes, finally! I go in Friday morning : )

How annoying.. Did you end up getting an appointment?
