If you can't catch it with a traditional trap get the sticky glue traps they work great because all they have to do is touch it and they are stuck they can't get off.  Wal-mart has these great ones.  Get the plastic ones not the cardboard folding ones because they can carry them off when they run.  We had a mouse and like 5 min. after we put the trap in the cabinet it was caught.

Try a live trap, or if that freaks you out try the traps they go inside for it to snap. Although i dont' know if those are tripped by them walking in. But live traps they go in and can't come out. then go for a little drive and set them free. done. do you know where it got in in the first place? gaps in the walls or doors or anything?

the only thing I'll caution you about with a glue trap is don't use it unless you are willing to kill a mouse. You can't get them free from it and they are still alive when they are trapped.

we used to have snakes (as pets) before my dd and we'd catch the field mice in live traps...they are like plastic boxs that they crawl into to get food then can't escape...but if you don't want to open one to keep it alive you can just let it die inside the trap and throw it all away....or buy a snake...i miss my snakes

In a pie pan mix 50/50 plaster of paris and cornmeal a few feet away put a dish of water, they will eat the laced cornmeal and drink the water and be nicly preserved and will not even smell bad when it dies

My best friend's city rat actually got stuck on the trap (partially we think) and still ran into the wall.  She had a rat stuck to a glue trap stuck in her wall for days until it starved to death... It was horrible, lol!

Got a cat? Try humane traps. The mouse will have to go inside to get the food and get trapped or get the sticky glue pads.I hate those! I had a smart mouse. I even think it laughed at me, so I bought the glue pads and that dang thing drug it around and made everything sticky. Now, I own 5 cats and haven't seen a mouse or rat in years.
