Somewhat embarrassing... Especially with company over!

My twins are 20 months old and they have an older sister who is almost 3. I can't get them to keep their dang clothes on! I'm a stay-at-home mom and we're working on potty training and it seems that the streaking started when the potty training started. I have to admit that when it first started happening, my husband and I laughed and thought it was funny. I immediately clothed them whenever it happened but I never really got on to anyone for it. It USED to be cute. Lol. Thanksgiving was when I finally realized how fed up with it I actually was. Within minutes of our guests getting up from the table, all three girls had ran to their room, taken off their clothes and then streaked through the living room in front of everyone. Since then I've been doing time-out every time I find someone taking their pants and diaper/pull-ups off but it's not working. Has anyone else gone through this? What can I do to stop it? I'm literally pulling my hair out!

Thanks, ladies!

I think a lot of people potty train that way.  My son strips as soon as we get in the house (to his underwear).  And, he's 8.

My son would do it (just with his pants and underwear/pull-up) when we started potty training I just put his pants on or atleast something to cover up with whenever hed do it ...its a phase...didnt last that long but can understand how its embarassing especially depending on whos at your house when they decide to do it... if your worried about it with certain company could you put them in something they cant take off? maybe overalls or something with snaps or buttons in the back?

I have 6 year old twins, a 10 year old and a 16 year old.  You would have thought that we were nudists for a while.  My youngest kids were always in thier underwear.  They have grown out of it now, except the 10 year old.  He loves to be in his undies.  I tell him to put clothes on and he says, "why, who is coming over!"  Anyway, I don't think it is a big deal.  Once they get a laugh out of it they will keep seeking that attention as well.  I would encourage the pull ups, but if they are comfortable in only the pull up and it is not cold in your house, what is the big deal.  I don't think time out is necessary.  However, this is your home and if those are the rules that you want to enforce then you need to keep letting them know what the boundaries are.  Tell them to put clothes on and keep getting them dressed.  I think there are bigger battles but that is just me!  Keep on keepin on, mama!

I don't know what to do for the 3 year old I have the same problem with my 2 1/2 year old but for the 20 mo. olds, I put my 17 mo. old in a onesie and she can't get the buttons undone so she stays clothed.  I am potty training my 2 1/2 year old too and every time she forgets and goes in her pull up she automatically goes into the bathroom and takes it off.  I don't know how to stop her. Hopefully the time outs will get your point across and they will stop soon.  Good luck!

I don't think there is much you can do.  My DD went through this too and still does sometimes.  When she was about 2 -3 yrs old as soon as she got home her pants came off.  We asked her once why she did this and she told us that she didn't need them anymore.  Even now every once in a while she will take off her shirt and sit around watching tv.

I completely agree! My son is 6 years old and the first thing he does when he comes home is take off his clothes down to his undies. He wont even ware PJs to bed so I stopped buying them. They will just be on the floor in the morning so what's the point, lol

I know that tons of people use that method to potty train but most don't have three toddlers who aren't close to being potty trained yet! We just really started potty training heavily about two weeks ago (all three girls) but we introduced the potty's about a month and a half ago. It's a lot of extra messes and our carpets just can't take much more! I've tried different brands of diapers and pull-ups and using just panties. But all three of them prefer to be in their birthday suits. I wouldn't mind as much if all three of them were almost fully potty trained, but only one is really having great success with it. I'm at my wits end!!
