if you had a small baby

if your baby smaller than average, lets say 5 or 6 lbs, is there a particular reason why? were they born before 40 weeks, or did you have problems in the pregnancy, were you a smoker, etc?? or were they just small just because?

im just curious bc ppl seem to always get worried or assume something was wrong when they hear the baby was born and only 5 lb or whatever, but i know of a few people who just have really small babies every time and nothing is 'wrong' at all, thats just the way they are.

my son was over 9 lbs so i just really have no idea! but it seems pretty common on here...

My daughter was only 5"12 at birth. She was born at 37 wks via C-section because I had IUGR

My other two were born at 40 wks and they were just over 6 lbs, nothing wrong with those pregnancies or them.

My dd was 5 lbs 6 oz and was 11 days early, according to the doctors.

My ds was 6 lbs 4 oz and was born 2 weeks early.

They were both healthy and had a healthy pregnancy with both:~)

My twins were monsters...6 pounds 1 ounce and 6 pounds 13 ounces.  I always wonder why people that have only one baby have them so "small".  I don't know what the causes are or why it seems to be so common now.  I always thought average was 7 and a half to 8 pounds.
