It's been so long since I've been around babies. I was holding a friend's baby that is 1 month old and I thought she was pretty small for being 1 month. She weighed 8lbs and some ounces when she was born and she seems to still weigh that much. Approximately how much is a 1 month old supposed to weigh? Are they supposed to be still really small like when they were just born?
DD was 9lbs 3oz at birth and then 12lbs 1oz at 1 month and exclusively BF. But the doc said she was the size of some 2 month olds. Most ppl think she is 4-5 months old now when she is 10 weeks and over 14lbs.

If you haven't been around babies for a long time, then that's probably why she seems so small. It's been a while for me too, and I thought my little grand-niece was teeny tiny for 4 1/2 months old, but she's actually doubled her birth weight already, and that's usuallly the goal for 6 months, I thought...
and my second son, because I had gestational diabetes, and had gained over 70 pounds of WATER weight, was extremely bloated when he was born at 10 pounds. When we left the hospital, he was actually only just over 7 pounds, so by 1 month, he was back to his birth weight.
i think it all depends on their birth weight.. theres no exact weight... my son was born at 8lbs 7oz and left the hospital weighing 8lbs... they lose some oz after being born.. so at 1 month he weighed his birthweight
