New Carseats!!!!!! Edited.

Ok so for Christmas, we pretty much asked for gift cards or money, and my inlaws blessed us greatly!  We were able to get two new carseats for the twins today!  I was getting worried because Ayden's head was less than half an inch from the top of his carseat.  Luckily these will last us for a good long while.  YAY!

For Kathryne, A graco comfort-sport convertible carseat, Eva.

And for Ayden The same style, a graco comfort-sport, only in durango

EDIT for those who think money grows on trees lol.

DS was too tall for his infant seat (head was above the top part).  We were blessed with DH's family giving us $300 in gift cards to WalMart.  We made the decision to get the less expensive seats, knowing that when the time comes for them to need new ones we will be in a better situation.  Dh will have his degree by then.  We used the rest of the money on clothes that they needed, jackets and diapers, all things we needed but weren't able to really buy at the time due to some medical bills.  I'm sure y'all meant well by trying to say "these seats are better" but why can't y'all just be happy for my DH and myself?  We did the best with what we had, and I'm very happy with the seats.  They are safe, and that is all that matters to me.  Sure we'll have to buy new ones in a couple of years, but that's ok.  We needed some now, and really couldn't see spending the whole $300 on seats alone when the kids needed winter clothes and shoes as well.

I would be inclined to return them and buy Graco MyRide 65 car seats. The Comfortsport has a very short shell and most kids outgrow it in height before age 3. While it seems they have room now, they will likely outgrow them super fast and before you are prepared to (and before its safe to) put them in booster seats with the adult belt only.

The MyRide is $150 (can find a sale online I'm sure) and they have THE Cutest girl print, and really cute boy prints too.It will rear face to 40lbs and forward face to 65lbs and fits most kids in the harness to age 6.

Antoher good option is the Evenflo Triumph ADVANCE. Rear face to 35lbs and forward to 50lbs. Fits most kids in the harness to age 5/6. Its around $120

The comfortsports were around $100 each... for another $50 each you can get a seat that can rear face your kids until age 3, and then forward face them until age 6. The Comfortsports will likely last them to age 3 before being outgrown.....

We don't have a choice. We can't afford anything over $100.  It would LOVE the other seats, but it just won't happen until next year.  We're on a very minimal income until DH finishes school.

These seat will not last you that long though. You are better off buying two Cosco Sceneras or 2 Safety First Avenues.

They will last you longer then these seats and are cheaper.

I had a Graco Comfortsport for Seth and HATED IT WITH A PASSION. He would have outgrown it at 2 yrs old and he is only in the 3-5% for height.

The seats are cute but totally not worth it.

I agree, I spent a small fortune on Britax car seats but the Roundabout went through two children and held them until they turned three.  And their Regents will last until eight or so.  The My Ride is a decent price and lasts a long time according to the carseat moms.

OK...let me clarify again.  DS has outgrown his infant seat.  We had to get some, and ended up using our christmas gift money to buy these seats. WE CAN NOT AFFORD ANYTHING ELSE RIGHT NOW.  THe gift cards were for walmart only. DH graduates in may and will earn a lot more pay, at which time we can invest in better seats.  But I refuse to let DS ride in a too small infant seat just so I can wait for a more expensive one.

First of I am so happy for you. Nothing like surprises that you can really use. I am sure they will work out just fine for the next few years being the kids are so young and by the time they do grow out of them then god only hopes you are in a better situation and could new ones. Then again maybe in two years your family will surprise you again!!! LOL...
