Mommies of Pre-schoolers???????

I am sososososo nervous. My four year old dd is my buddy. She is hearing impaired and wears hearing aids. She is starting pre-school on Monday and I am so nervous about it. It is a christian private school and is only 9-12 for this semester and I also have a 2 year old son.  I know this will be a good time for us to bond and spend special mommy bubba time together.  But what should I expect.  Will she be scared, will I be scared? Will my son go through seperation anxiety (him and his sissy are very very close)? I just don't know what to expect and how to make her comfortable along with the rest of the family.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Bump, anyone please. I wasn't asking for drama maybe just some reassurance that my angel is going to be ok with all of this.

I felt the same thing when my son went to preschool. More than likely she might be kinda scared the first day, but once she plays with the kids she will be all better. It will be good for her to go off and do something independently. It will also give your child some alone time with mommy. Good luck mama!

My daughter started part time christian preschool 2 days a week last year when she was two and it was very hard on us.  She did not do well at all being away from me.  My daughter is special needs.  She turned 3 in July and now goes to preschool which was recommended by the CDC in a IEP that we did over the summer.  She started in the Fall and big difference this time  She loves it!  I was so nervous, but she has adjusted very well.  I did a lot of pumping her up things before she started.  i would say things like Alyssa you are such a big girl going to school!  She will do just fine!  Just keep it very positive and exciting!  Good luck to you!

I'd start talking about it now so she wont be nervous on Monday. Just start saying how sissy will be going to school for a little bit and tell her kind of what to except when you all enter school on Monday. My 3 y/o started in August she had never been away from me I seriously mean never and it was hard for both of us especially when she cried but I knew it was good for her and I knew the teachers was good to her since she was excited about telling me about school. If possible if the school didn't do it see if you can go in one day this week and see the teachers so your daughter can see the class room and meet her teachers. It will help on Monday. Good luck.

It will be way harder on you then her. I'm sure she will love it and they need this time to prepare for K5. I was a complete mess but he was just ready for me to go. I thought because he had never been to daycare he would miss me.  He said he missed me a little =)

I know I am not alone in how I feel it just really helps to hear others. I know it will be good for her I am just concerned of kids making fun of her for her speech and because she wears hearing aids.  She is very charismatic though so I don't think I have to be worried but that is that mommy bone sticking out again.

If you don't mind me asking......what type of special needs does she have?

My daughter is 50% deaf in both ears.

We have been talking about it for a few months. She has been asking since the start of the actual school year to go. My niece started kindergarden this year and she is soooooo jealous.  We just had a really bad experience with a deaf pre-school program last year.  We are going to go there and turn in all her medical stuff and she will get to meet her classmates and teachers.  They are really excited to have her and I am excited for her to go. I am just so nervous and I can't really put my finger on it.
