do you or have you made your child their birthday cake? If you have pictures please show me. I am thinking of spider man or spongebob. Also do you make your own icing? I can make wonderful icing but if you have a good recipie please let me borrow it. Thank you! I am trying to save as much money as possible and stil make it look good.

This cake was my very first that wasn't out of a box, lol. It was for my DD's 2nd b-day. I made butter cream frosting. You can just google it or it will probably be in a character cake pan if you buy one. I plan on doing a Lightning McQueen for my son in March.

Here is a Spongebob cake my sister and I made for fun this past summer. I used a buttercream frosting and the cake was choc and vanilla with a choc raspberry filling.

also to the ones that do this quite often, do you use a paper towel to smooth out the icing? Thats what a few people have told me they do.
