seperation anxiety?

I need some advice... I have a 9 month old son. He is the happiest baby every,But the last few weeks he started this new thing , when  i walk out of the room he screams and cries like he is in pain. His daddy will go and pick him up and he still screams and crys until i come back. He will be sobbing and choking and screaming blood murder soons i come hold him he is fine. what do i do i am going crazy!! HELP!

Maybe start separatingslowly and stay right next to who ever has him , occasionally rub his back ..stand behind the person holding him so he can see you and play peek a boo etc.. ?? Perhaps doing this over and over and then making it longer bigger separation like disappearing and reappearing ..ie - go into another room for 1 min and come back etc..?
