Cloth Menstral pads? A few questions for those who use them.

Ok ladies. I am perhaps the BIGGEST skeptic of these Cloth menstral pads, but..... I am thinking about trying them. I have horriable periods. I mean the first 2 days feel like I just gave birth. (No I have no medical reasons for this) I have extremely heavy bleeding and cramps. I have heard that with cloth pads it cuts down on some of these symptoms. But I have a few questions....

Do you feel wet all the time?

How do you wash them? Is it the same as like a Cloth Diaper?

Is there anywhere that will let you buy them cheap(like super cheap?) to test out?

We are on a really tight budget and I honestly only spend about $10-15 a month on Tampons, but I dont have the money to buy a bunch of these if I dont like them ya know? But I am searching for some way to help my menstral cycle. Thanks ladies!!

Rhea...I don't know if you believe in crystal healing or oils...but holding a piece of moonstone to your tummy and a few drops of Geranium oil in your bath and or oil burner will help...You can also use these with your Midol etc....

I haven't used "mama cloth" (as it's called) before, and I used disposable products back when I had my period (still haven't gotten it back from having my baby). I'm planning to use a Diva Cup when I do get it back, though. If you have super heavy flow, maybe try to use a Diva Cup with some mama cloth? I think a Diva Cup is around $30 or so, and I'm not exactly sure about mama cloth. I know a lot of WAHMs make it and sell it on HyenaCary. One name that comes to mind is Luna something, I think?

ok, I have yet to have a period since the birth of my 3rd dd.  However I did use cloth and disposables for the post partum period.  They are FAR  more comfortable than disposables. The disposables seemed to make me feel constantly sweaty or moist, they stuck to my butt =(.  The cloth felt nice and soft and comfy.  You have to change them more often than a disposable one I think because cloth doesn't absorb as much as those little crystals that are in disposables.  You can get pads with a waterproof backing or ones without.  They wash like cloth diapers.  When you change one you can stick it in a container of water mixed with a little peroxide to help keep it from staining until wash day. I  keep the container under the sink in the bathroom.  Wash in a 'free' detergent with no fabric softeners or additives in the detergent.

I am kinda skeptical too.  i belong to the Cuties with Cloth Booties group because I cloth diaper and one of the mamas was asking for testers.. I was lucky enough to get picked.  I know she doesn't need any more testers but there seem to be more people making them lately.

I haven't used them but I've seen them on Etsy.  Why would they cut down bleeding and cramps though?  Just wondering.  I have heard great things about the Diva cup.  I have pretty short light periods and only go through like 15-20 tampons total so I've never really been concerned w it.  But I would consider the Diva cup before cloth pads.

How can using re-usable pads reduce bleeding and cramps?
