We filed our taxes today and we've ran the numbers today of what we need to do with it.

we've counted in eliminating my husbands debt completely

Having a christmas fund

Having a medical expense fund (we have health insurance so this will cover what the insurance doesn't for a family of 4)

Getting my husband new glasses

We have enough left over to either do two things with.

1) have an easy year and use it as Emergency use (if we were to come short for a bill one month..etc)

2) Purchase a new gas range and the left over money (200-300) can be used as Emergency use.

Hubby says 200-300 isn't enough to use for emergencies.

Our gas range now will last us another year, we've just upgraded our kitchen appliences last weekend (new dishwasher, new microwave, new sink) the stove and fridge are the last things that need to be replaced, and with our often i use the stove- having a new one would be great for the whole family.

But that would leave us with very little left over.

What would you do?

I would say save it and if the range goes up, you have it saved away anyway!

I'd save it because you never know when something will come up.

I agree with your husband that a couple hundred dollars isn't enough for an emergency. I say save it:)

I would save it.  If your stove still works keep using it.  300 is not enough of a savings account to even cover a car insurance deductible.  If you keep it in savings and the range goes then you have it.

if it aint broke , dont fix it--replace the range when it needs to be replaced and keep it for emergency use.
