Is that not illegal where you live?

I totally agree.  A friend of mine puts her son in his booster seat in the front and it drives me crazy. Hes a big boy, Id say every bit of 60 pounds at 5 years old but still at that age they need to be in the back.

I'm in MI and that would be illegal here unless you're talking about the front seat of a pickup truck that doesn;t have an extended cab. My 5 year old is still in a 5pt harness as well and my 3 year old is still rear facing.

Now, while I do think that children should not be in the front seat of a vehicle with air bags I will say that I own a van and know for a fact that some have a feature that turns the air bag off on the passenger seat if there is someone sitting in it who weighs under 90 pounds so it could be that theirs has that feature and it isn't as dangerous as it could be that way.

I cannot answer why other people do what they do.  Why don't you ask them next time you see them since you are so worked up over it?

i have an 8 year old that is almost 5' and weighs close to 90lbs but he is still in a booster because the seatbelt cuts across his neck and IMO that is not safe!

That would drive me nuts to see too. SDD who is going to be 3is in a booster seat when she is with her mom, but when we pick her up she is in a 5-point harness. I feel that she is not big enough for a booster seat because she is barely taller than my DD who is 29 inches and she barely weighs over 25 lbs (I think she is maybe 27lbs if I am remember right). But I can't say anything to her because its her choice on what she does with SDD when she is with her. I am just counting our blessings that she finally listened to DF when he told her that SDD who is 7 needed to be in a booster seat because of the new law here in Ohio.

My kids always rode in the back, and they can sit up front when they are about 11. So in other words 2 can sit up front but my youngest has a ways to go.
