Adoption = Bankruptcy ~~>> Please Read

I know that many of you are already mommas, but I'd still like your support.

I have had this on my heart for a while and I feel that it is God's calling on my life.  After again inquiring about the fees of a newborn needing immediate placement and being told the atty fees were $20,000, I have decided NOW is the time.  I am forming a group who is willing to help me make some changes in the adoption arena.  MAMA (Making Adoption More Affordable).  The simple fact that couples are maxing out credit cards or taking out second mortgages on their homes in order to start a family is absurd.  Facilitators and attorneys who charge these ridiculous fees must be placed under control.  They are preying on our (prospective adoptive parents) emotions and it is NOT right. 

If you are interested in joining me to help in this cause, please contact me.  Babies are a gift from God, not a commodity to be sold and make people rich.

I agree & would be a part of it. I may not need to adopt, but the fact that is bankrupting couples to adopt an orphaned child is absurd.

you should change your title to something more "provocative", like "Adoption=Bankruptcy" or no one will look at this.

That sounds like a great advocacy group!  I agree, though...the cost of adoption is outrageous!  I have to wonder if there wouldn't be more kids adopted if it were cheaper to do!

i would be interested in a group like that. I do not need to adopt but I think its sad that if adoption werent so hard maybe more children would have families!!

They make it really hard.  When we adopted our son it was a little over $20,000, and he was already a family member!  We had a savings so we didn't have to pay on it forever, and we would do it again in a heartbeat...he's the greatest gift ever:)

I completely agree with you! My DH and I have wanted to adopt for years, but have not been able to save up enough yet! I would love to join a group like that!

I agree!! We have talked about adopting a baby but there is NO WAY, we could afford it.
