DH's family uses a bath towel 3-4 times before puting it in the laundry. I grew up using a towel once, then it goes in the laundry.  I understand the saving water/money/electricity part of it, but honestly, you use that towel to dry off personal areas...that may or may not be thoroughly cleaned. I don't want to use it the next day and dry my face off with the part I used yesterday to dry off my butt!!!  Soap won't kill everything no matter how many times or how long you scrub!

Edit: To those of you who do reuse bath towels, do you ever notice a funky smell that is still present after washing them? At the inlaws...all towels smell, even the ones that just come out of the dryer...

And...I think there may have been some confusion...bath towels are the ones I'm talking about...not handtowels...

We reuse our towels.  We have towels that we dry off our body with after a shower and we have separate hand towels for when we wash our hands.

Do you wear jeans twice? Or coats you have sneezed on? I'm sure there are just as many germs on them!

no.

not many people know this but there is a bacteria called "gonorella"  no not gonorrhea.

it forms when your towel sits there moist... and it can cause infections and skin irritations.

it usually presents where you shave.. on your legs. it will infect the little hair follicals.. it looks similar to a prickly rash.

so no.. i'm o.c.d. about fresh clean towels

Yep, we did when I was a kid, so it's how I've always done. Normally 2 days because I tend to forget to hang up the towel, and I won't use it again if I put it on the floor or somethign.

I use Dial antibacterial body wash.

We use a few times before washing. We have to. I can't afford to wash after every use. There's 3 of us during the week and my 2 stepsons every other weekend.

And here's another reason I won't ever do it! Yuck!

Thoroughly cleaned??? I would hope that it is! If not then you're not doing it right.
