Is anything with pasta off limits?  You can make a nice angel hair with fresh garlic and olive oil for cheap.  If you subtract pasta altogether from the equation I am probably at a loss for ideas.

Hobo Packets

Ground Beef
Onion
Potatoes
Baby Carrots
Aluminum FoilDale’s Sauce (optional)

Make patties out of the ground beef. Peel and slice onion. Slice potatoes into chunks. Place each patty in the center of a large sheet of foil. Top with onion, potatoes, and carrots. Close packet and seal well. Bake in oven at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour, or until done.

a box of pasta 1$

a bag of frozen vegies 1$

a pound of hamburger meat 2$

a can of cream of cheddar soup 1$

These prices are from the save-a-lot in my town. cook the pasta, meat, and vegies then mix it all together it's surprisingly good.

One Skillet Chili Bake

1/2 C uncooked rice

1 C shredded cheddar cheese
1 Cup water, if needed

In large skillet, brown beef and drain well. Add beans, Ro-Tel, Rice, and Chili Powder. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until rice is done. Uncover and top with cheddar cheese. Continue cooking until cheese melts. Serve with tortilla or corn chips.

Oh, you can do beans & rice - Canned Goya Black or Red Beans + any kind of instant rice....You could probably spend less than 5 and have some to spare.

A bag of big butter beans, a piece of fatback/other seasoning and 1 can of flakey biscuits.  Soak the beans over night.  Put them in a pot covered in water with the seasoning meat.  Let it simmer and cook for approximately 45 mins to 1 hour.  Pull the biscuits layers apart and put it in the pot.  The biscuit layers fluff up to make 'dumplings' very yummo and makes a lot!  After you put the biscuits in cook another 10-15 mins and then serve  :)

Or spaghetti.  Lol can't go wrong there.  1 lb hamburger, spaghetti sauce and noodles.  If you got some cheese you can add that on the noodles when they are hot and the cheese melts.  Yum I love it that way!
